The client, a CNC machine distributor wanted to consolidate its operations in their new building. The program consists of a warehouse for imported machines, a showroom to display the machines and offices. The warehouse and showroom functions require relatively large spans due to the size of the machines they house. Although the building is not a production facility, the spatial requirements are still close to one that of a small factory. Combined with the fact that the site is an irregular corner plot reserved for commercial activities in the master plan for the industrial zone, the design called for an industrial aesthetics that is also cost effective.
